The Chris Daly censure is really a pivotal issue for the choosing of the next board president. Under Matt Gonzalez, a staunch ally of Daly, supervisors have taken to having dialogue with the public, creating an atmosphere of true public hearings but also an air of chaos when crowds become unruly. ... Bevan Dufty put in a pitch for how hearings could be run: "loving place, loving place," he soothed when a hearing on elephants last week got ugly. ...

I was at the Land Use meeting, and Daly brought this on himself. He was in the crowd's face, baiting them, and that is what brought on the heckling and booing. You can't expect to shout and point at the crowd with incendiary comments and not expect a reaction from the crowd. You didn't see anyone heckling Gonzalez in the crowd, did you?
